OUR SCHOOL : School subjects

Sant Nicolau is a great school. The classrooms are usually very big. We have twelve subjects, such as: Catalan, Spanish, Socials, Technology/ ITC, Maths, Drawing, English, Natural science, Religion and Physical education.
The classes ar one hour long, except Physical education. We train for two hours. We start the classes at eight o’clock every day, except on Fridays. We have three classes in a row, followed by a half an hour break. Then we have two subjects more and then we go home to have lunch or stay at the school's canteen for lunch. In the afternoon we have two more subjects. We finish school at half past five every day, except on Friday, On Friday we finish at half past one.

OUR SCHOOL : Our school building

Our school is divided into two parts:
                      • The new school:   High school  students have their classes in the new school. We have a long corridor with lockers where we keep our books and personal things.                                       .
                       • The old school: Primary students have their classes in the old school.
Between the new and the old school there is a patio and a pavilion. There is also a small slide for the younger children.
We have approximately eight hundred students in the new school.

OUR SCHOOL : The sports hall

The sports hall is under the playground. The stairs are next to the playground  These are clay color.
The floor is made of wood. There are five dressing rooms. Two of them are bigger than the others, and one is for the referees.
There are two football goals, and six basketball hoops, two on each side, two that can be moved and two at the top of the football goals.
There are three storage rooms. In one of them we keep the basketball balls, and football balls, tennis rackets, badminton rackets and mats.
We practise sport once a week in the sports hall.We love sport :)

OUR SCHOOL : Our playground

The playground is so big, but we share it. All the students, boys and girls, play there at different times: the little children go to the playground at 10 o’clock, the primary students go at 10:30. Secondary students, like us, go at 11 o’clock. We also have a terrace where we can play on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; the other days we go to the big playground. The oldest students have a break  at 11 o’clock, but they can choose if they want to go to the street or stay at the playground.
The playground has: two goals, six baskets, seven springwater, a little park for the younger ones, a yard, one door to go to the sports hall and the other one  to go to the canteen and also an enormous blackboard.
We use the playground to have breakfast (it’s our free time), and also after the lunch time, we have another break.

OUR SCHOOL : Our classrooms

We have a lot of classrooms.
There are three computer rooms, one for primary, another for secondary and we share the other one. Downstairs we have two laboratories. In front of those we have one of technology lab, there we make projects and we have tools.
When we have Catalan, Spanish, English and Maths we separate the class in two groups and we go to other classes.
We have two classes for each course. In one class there are 30 students.
In there we have a normal blackboard and another that is a digital whiteboard.
Our class is 2nd of ESO, ESO means obligatory secondary education. There are four ESO courses.
In the afternoon, after the classes two of the students sweep the classroom. And they leave the class very clean.(Not always)

OUR SCHOOL : Lunch at our school

Our course is 2nd ESO (ESO means Obligatory Secondary Education). Lunch time for our course is from 13:30 to 15:30. Some students go home for lunch, and others stay in the school.
People who have lunch at school play in the playground until 14:15, when we have our lunch. There are two groups in the lunch time: the normal group, that has lunch at the canteen; and the English group, that has lunch in another class. In that group, while we are eating, we speak in English. There are some English teachers: Jack, Brian and Mark. They are all from England. Ginesta is on the English group, and Ángela doesn’t eat at school.
When we finish eating, we go to the playground until Genís, a teacher, call us and we go to the classrooms.
